  • Skipping Festival

    Wed 08 Mar 2023

So, so, proud of our Year 4 children who represented us in the Skipping Festival at St. Thomas More School this afternoon.  They have worked so hard to learn all  the different skipping moves- side-swing, speed bounce, cross-over, pretzel, butterfly and were able to perform these techniques confidently.  They also performed a skip dance routine incorporating a range of these moves. As well as showing off their fantastic skipping skills, they showed excellent sportsmanship and excellent manners.

  • Check out these Dance Moves!

    Mon 06 Mar 2023

Tonight the North Shields Dance Festival, organised by St Thomas More catholic High School and North Tyneside PE and School Sport Team, made a welcome return to our annual school calendar.  Ten schools came together to perform a dance they had choreographed under the theme of New Beginnings.  There were performances from Primary, High and Special School pupils in the local authority with children of all ages taking part.

Year 5 pupils represented our school with a piece called ‘No New Beginnings’ performed to the music ‘Bad Boys’ from Bugsy Malone.  The performance showed a group of gangsters who do not want ‘New Beginnings’ and would prefer to remain ‘bad’.  The performance included traditional jazz dance moves that highlighted the cheekiness of the gangsters.  It was wonderful to see the children perform on such a big stage to a huge audience - they were absolutely fantastic!

  • Year 3’s visit to Durham University

    Thu 02 Mar 2023 J. MacDonald

Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic day at the Oriental Museum in Durham University to develop their knowledge and understanding about Ancient Egypt. They enjoyed handling and discussing artefacts and learning about the different gods. They even met a real mummy in her tomb!
