  • The Life of a Miner

    Fri 13 Oct 2023

Today we were visited by Pat from the Durham Mining and Heritage Project.

She came to help us to get an insight into life as a Miner so that we will be better equipped to interpret and understand the artworks of The Pitman Painters whose work we will explore in next week's collapsed curriculum 'Big Art' week.

We learned about a miners working life and handled artefacts from that time period.  We got to dress as miners, collect our Pit Token, Pit Lamp and experience going down the mine through a range of drama activities.

We thoroughly enjoyed and learned lots in our workshops and are looking forward to our Big Art week
