North Tyneside Catering Services manage the school meals service for our school.
St. Mary's benefits from an experienced cook, Lesley Keddy, who prepares tasty, nutritious meals in our on site kitchen. Children are offered an extensive choice from pre-planned menus which run on a 3 week cycle and can be viewed using the links below.
All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and year 2 are eligible for Universal Free School Meals but parents must complete an application to claim this for their child. From Year 3 onward some pupils may continue to be entitled to free school meals and again parents must complete the necessary application form to make their claim. Information about eligibility for free school meals and forms to claim them can be accessed using the link below.
School meals are priced at £2.25 per day and should be paid for in advance using a debit/credit card by calling (0191) 643 2888 or online using the link below.
Medically Prescribed Diets
If your child requires a medically prescribed diet such as gluten, egg or milk free due to an allergy or intolerance to certain foods, you must contact Catering Services (see below for contact details).
Catering Services need to speak to you directly so in addition to advising the school of your child’s allergies you must also contact North Tyneside Council’s Catering Services Team to arrange an appointment to discuss your child’s specific dietary requirements.
From a safety point of view, we can not provide your child with a meal until you have agreed a menu with Catering Service.

School Meals Menu
The menu for school meals usually runs on a 3 week cycle. Our cook will do her best to provide the advertised menu but please be advised that she may need to deviate from the it in the event of produce not being delivered on time.
From September 2020 the usual 3 week menu will be replaced with a new 2 week menu which has been devised to enable our kitchen to provide hot food and operate under Covid Secure guidelines.
