St Mary's Catholic Primary School, formerly known as St. Mary's RC Primary School, converted to an academy and joined Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust in August 2021.  We are located in  Cullercoats and serve the Parishes of St Mary's Cullercoats and St. Oswin's Tynemouth

St Mary's is a happy school where staff and children show mutual respect and care for one another.  A place where children can fully develop their physical, spiritual and academic potential, a place where we strive to meet the needs of each individual to enable them to achieve their absolute best.

St. Mary's is a Catholic School where Jesus Christ and his teachings lie at the heart of all we do.  We want our children through their work and experiences with us to develop sound values and a strong moral purpose which will support them in making a positive contribution to their community and the wider world. 

During their time at our school children are guided  and supported to become articulate, resourceful, independent, resilient and collaborative learners. They are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, and dedicated support from our staff team helps to ensure that each and every child succeeds.

Behaviour amongst our pupils is excellent and we expect the very best of our children at all times. Children are very supportive of one another and help their friends to make positive decisions and choices.  Staff provide excellent pastoral support to ensure that all pupils individual needs are effectively supported.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2020 judged us to be a Good School, it said - "This is a warm, welcoming and friendly school.  Pupils are happy and feel part of the 'school family'.  Staff know pupils well. Their care and nurture ensure that pupils are safe and that they thrive.  Pupils behave well and manners are exemplary. Personal development is a particular strength.  Pupils enjoy a wide range of opportunities to foster their confidence, resilience and self-esteem."
