This page provides information regarding applying for a place at St. Mary's Catholic Primary School.
Your child does not have to be baptised Catholic to attend our school. We encourage and welcome applications for children of different faiths and those with no faith preference and look forward to welcoming all children into our school community and supporting them to achieve their full potential in an environment where they are nurtured, valued and respected for the unique individuals they all are.
This table shows the spread of admissions to our reception class across the published oversubscription criteria for a 3-year period and demonstrates that being a baptised Catholic is not a requirement in order to gain a place in our wonderful school.

If your child is a baptised Catholic or any other faith it is the parent's responsibility to provide proof of this, in the form of a Baptism Certificate, which should be provided to school along with your application form.
Applications for Reception Class are made as part of the North Tyneside Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme. Information about this scheme and our school's admission policy can be found in the documents made available on this page or at

In-Year Applications
An application can be made for a school place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places. North Tyneside Council co-ordinate our in-year admissions for us. An application should be made for the school by completing the in-year admissions application form and returning it to North Tyneside School Admissions https://my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/223/year-transfers.
Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission arrangements and our admissions policy for 2022/23 will be applied. Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.
You will be advised of the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible.
