  • Christmas 2018

Fri 21 Dec 2018 Mrs Bland

This week has seen the children across our school celebrate the feast of Christmas in a wonderful way reminding us all of the reason why this is such a special time of year for Christians all over the world.

On Tuesday evening our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children performed the Nativity 'Hey Ewe' with wonderful Narration, Acting, Singing and Dancing.  On Wednesday our Nursery children performed their Nativity Play.  To see these children just 3 and 4 years old up on stage speaking and singing brought tears to the eyes of many parents and teachers!  On Thursday we celebrated Mass with our Parish and our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils gave us the opportunity to be still and reflect on the joy of this season with a service of song and scripture readings.  The Narrators, Actors and Singers did a marvellous job - the singing sounded like a choir of Angels.

I am very proud of all the children at St Mary's.  I feel very blessed to be the head teacher of this school and so, so grateful for the hard work and dedication of the staff team who work here.

  • Value Service!

    Fri 14 Dec 2018

During this term we have been exploring the value 'Service' across school.  We have thought about what it means to serve.  We have explored different ways to serve others and we have thought about what it is like to be served.

Today each class shared their learning and have recorded beautifully in their class values book what 'Service' means to them.  In this season of Advent, when we await the birthday of Jesus who came to serve us, we think about how we can continue to witness to our faith by serving others.

  • Advent Giving

    Wed 12 Dec 2018

Our Mini Vinnies have worked tirelessly this term organising events to help us share some of the many blessings we have in our lives with others.

During Advent they ran a reverse advent calendar and children across school brought in donations of toiletries and household cleaning items to donate to the 'Walking With' Charity.  Today the Mini Vinnies packed bags and loaded up our donations to be taken to the distribution centre in North Shields. Thank you to everyone who donated you have helped us to spread a little Joy this Advent.
