Year 2 Local History
Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed their History unit on the Great Fires. After learning about the fire in London, we invited Richard to come and talk to us yesterday all about life on the Quayside in Victorian times and all about the Great Fires of Gateshead and Newcastle. Then today we took a metro into town and explored the site of the fire and how the Quayside has changed over time. We even saw the remains of the wall from the houses that were there in 1854!

KS1 Advent Morning
This morning the children in Key Stage 1 enjoyed an Advent morning. We created some crafts that helped us to remember the season of Advent. One of these is the Bambinelli. In Italy on the third Sunday of Advent, children take a wooden baby Jesus to Mass to have it blessed. They then wrap it up and place it under their tree. On Christmas morning they unwrap the baby Jesus first to help them remember the true meaning of Christmas. The children are bringing home their Bambinelli

KS1 History Club
In History Club this week, the children looked at what life was like living inside a castle. We learnt about what type of people would have lived in a castle, what their jobs were and what they would have ate. We even made our own medieval food plates and imagined what it would be like eating food like this everyday.
