PE & SPORT PREMIUM
The government provides additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on the provision of PE and Sport. The PE/Sports Grant Funding for schools is calculated based on the number of primary aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11) in school as recorded at the annual census in each January.
"Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how to do this" (DFE June 14)
At St. Mary's we want to ensure that large numbers of our pupils have opportunities to participate in a range of sports and competitions. We want all of our staff to deliver high quality PE lessons ensuring children make progress, their skills are developed, therefore enabling sustainability. We want to build on and improve our extended provision. We believe PE and sport play an important part in children's lives helping them to be fit, healthy and to develop confidence, determination and resilience.
We welcome the Governments decision to provide schools with additional funding to improve our PE provision.
