Year 3 at Christmas Unwrapped
Year 3 had a wonderful morning Whitley Bay Baptist Church at their ‘Christmas Unwrapped’ event where they made crafts and thought about the true meaning of Christmas. Huge thanks to Mrs Mercer for making this so special for us.

Year 6 at Netball Festival
A group of Year 6 pupils took part in the STMA netball festival and they were amazing. They really grew into the festival and by the end, their netball skills were praised by other teachers and referees.

Road Safety Workshops
Everyone enjoyed taking part in North Tyneside's Road Safety Workshops listening to careful reminders and advice about staying safe when out and about in our locality including when crossing the road.

Historic England Heritage Award
We are delighted to have achieved the Heritage Schools Award from Historic England. This award recognises outstanding history education with a focus on local history. Miss Buzzeo has worked so hard to put together the evidence for this award which we passed with ‘flying colours’. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and the rich history curriculum that is in place in school.

Year 4 Ancient Greek Workshop
Year 4 have had a fantastic Ancient Greek Day with Durham University. We’ve handled actual 2,500 year old artefacts, created votive objects from clay and taken part in the Greek tragedy ‘Medea’

Year 3 Trip to the Rising Sun
Year 3 had a brilliant day on their trip to the Rising Sun to learn all about life in the Stone Age. They made their own bread and cooked it on the open fire, build dens to shelter from the storm, looked at artefacts and thrashed wheat to grind flour to make bread. Lots of smiles and muddy faces all round

Reception Class visit to the Quarry
R eception Class went on a lovely (yet wet) autumn walk to the quarry to map out our locality and look for signs of seasonal change - we just beat the winter weather! The children now have a much better understanding of our locality and local landmarks and of course how the world around us changes with the season

Remembrance
During the month of November, we hold a book of remembrance in our entrance area where our school community can add prayers and thoughts about people they have loved and lost. Our Mini Vinnies sold poppies and poppy products to raise funds for the Royal British Legion

Key Stage 1 Author Workshop
Years 1 & 2 enjoyed a special workshop with the wonderful author and illustrator, Catherine Rayner! It was great to see inside her workshop and hear how she gets ideas for her books. We all had a turn a drawing along with her to create our little bears!

Monster Phonics Day
Our Reception class children had a fabulous day celebrating our Monster Phonics Scheme. Dressed up as monsters, they spent the day practising their favourite sounds, blending and segmenting and reading their tricky words.

Big Art Week
This week was our annual Big Art Week in school with the theme being North Shields 800, to link in with the celebrations in our local community. It was wonderful to see our pupils so engaged in developing their skills in a range of artistic activities.

Year 2's success in the Sumdog Competition
Huge congratulations to Year 2 who finished in 2nd place in the Sumdog North East of England Maths Competition. Well done to Isaac, Skye and Magnus who f8nished in the top 10 pupils.

Year 5 Class Assembly
Year 5 held their class assembly this morning, all about the Anglo Saxons. They shared all of the their wonderful learning from the past few weeks with the rest of our school. All of the children read brilliantly and were great at entertaining their audience. Huge well done!

The Northern Cross Cup
We were so proud of the girls who represented our school in the Northern Cross Cup. It was such an amazing night and although they didn’t manage a victory this time, they had so much fun and tried so hard. They showed so much determination, skill and most importantly teamwork.

Harvest
Our Mini Vinnies gathered all of the Harvest donations and then led a whole school Celebration of the Word giving thanks for all we have and what we can share with others. Our Harvest donations were then safely delivered to The Bay Foodbank who were so incredibly grateful for our donations. Thank you to Mr O’Brien for kindly delivering them.. #harvestfestival
