Lent Giving
This year for our Lenten Giving, our Mini Vinnies created a challenge for the school community to think about how they could donate things they no longer needed to children in need in our area. They have been collecting children's clothes, shoes, toys, books and games throughout Lent and this week they organised the donations for Tyneside Community Store and St Oswald's Hospice who were so incredibly grateful for this kindness.

Year 2 Class Assembly
Year 2 shared a wonderful assembly today all about their learning in History about the Great Fires of London, Gateshead and Newcastle. It was amazing to see how much they had enjoyed this unit and the links they have made to local history.

British Science Week
This week we have enjoyed taking part in British Science Week. We have worked in our classes and our Houses to take part in scientific experiments learning that science is such a vital part of our world but also incredibly fun! #britishscienceweek

UKS2 History Club
In History club, Year 5 and 6 were learning about Ancient Gods and Godesses. The children then created their own modern day versions. They had some great ideas, such as, the God of Heavy Metal and the Goddess of Comfort and Snacks!

World Book Day 2026
This World Book Day, was all about the love of reading! From visiting the Book Fair, having 'Breakfast with Books' with our families or doing 'Stop, Drop & Read!' with our friends. What a brilliant day!

Year 5 at the Dance Festival
Year 5 gave a superb performance at tonight’s Dance Fesitval! You were co-ordinated, in sync and most of all had fun. Thank you for representing our school brilliantly.

Our Mini Vinnies have organised a series of cake sales in Lent to raise money for our local SVP. Everyone is enjoying getting their Friday treat!

Year 2 Local History
Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed their History unit on the Great Fires. After learning about the fire in London, we invited Richard to come and talk to us yesterday all about life on the Quayside in Victorian times and all about the Great Fires of Gateshead and Newcastle. Then today we took a metro into town and explored the site of the fire and how the Quayside has changed over time. We even saw the remains of the wall from the houses that were there in 1854!

Safeguarding Workshops
The children in Years 5 and 6 have enjoyed a series of Safeguarding Workshops led by Northumbria Police and the Ivison Trust. They have explored themes such as grooming, cyberbullying and the impact of social media. They found these sessions really informative and they were a excellent reinforcement of our PSHE curriculum

Year 3 visit Durham University
Year 3 had a fantastic day at the Oriental Museum exploring life in Ancient Egypt. They handled and researched Egyptian artefacts and visited the real mummy learning how she came to be at the museum and what is know about her past. We finished by reenacting a mumification and taking part in a weighing of the heart!

Years 5 and 6 enjoyed a wonderful trip to the theatre to see Weird this morning at the Theatre Royal. They really enjoyed the experience!

LKS2 History Club
Year 3 and 4 have been fantastic in History Club this term. We have been learning about Alexander Bell, World War 2 and Viking culture. They especially loved yesterday’s session where we were exploring what a Viking’s food diet would have looked like.

Breakfast with Bland
"Mr Miley used ‘Breakfast with Bland’ as an incentive to encourage children to complete their home reading diaries. This morning I had breakfast with 16 wonderful children. We chatted about what they are currently reading, we debated fiction or non-fiction and shared how we choose the books we read. The children were delightful and it was a lovely start to my day - thank you all for joining me." Mrs Bland

Year 2's letters to the NHS
In December, our Year 2 pupils wrote letters to local nurses as part of their English and History unit on Florence Nightingale. They were excited to post them and today we received an email from Northumberland NHS Trust to thank the children for the happiness that the letters brought to all the nurses who read them!

Celebrating our Irish Dancers!
Congratulations to these children who received an award for working hard to achieve a beautiful standard of dancing at their weekly dance classes provided by Barbara Slater of Clann na Ngael, Irish Dance School. Class runs on a Thursday 3.30-4.40 for anyone who is interested in joining - it’s a great way to learn new skills, have fun and keep fit!

Snowy Fun!
We started the new term with some snowy days! Our Year 6 pupils showed our value of Service by clearing the yards so they rest of school could go out to play safely and our EYFS pupils thoroughly enjoyed bundling up and playing in the snow!

KS1 Nativity
Our Y1 and Y2 children gave an outstanding performance of the Nativity ‘Hey Ewe’ for their families and our parish community this evening. Each and every one of them were AMAZING and we are so proud of them all. We thank them for giving us the opportunity to be still and be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas.

Choir sing carols at the RNLI
Our amazing choir performed at Cullercoats Lifeboat Station’s Christmas Carols event this evening accompanied by the Salvation Army Brass Band. It was a wonderfully festive event enjoyed by the whole community and we were delighted to be invited to be part of it.

EYFS visit to see Santa!
This afternoon the nursery children enjoyed visiting Santa Claus, making Christmas crafts and drinking warm juice by the fire. We are VERY excited for Christmas!

KS1 Advent Morning
This morning the children in Key Stage 1 enjoyed an Advent morning. We created some crafts that helped us to remember the season of Advent. One of these is the Bambinelli. In Italy on the third Sunday of Advent, children take a wooden baby Jesus to Mass to have it blessed. They then wrap it up and place it under their tree. On Christmas morning they unwrap the baby Jesus first to help them remember the true meaning of Christmas. The children are bringing home their Bambinelli
