Following the success of the House System we used on sports day last July we have launched a new House System across school.
Children from Reception to Year 6 have been allocated a house which includes a mix of pupils from all classes. The children will stay in their house throughout their St Mary’s journey. The Houses are named after Northern Saints and include St Mary, St Bede, St Oswald, St Aidan, St Cuthbert, St Ninian & St Hilda.
The Houses allow the children to develop a sense of community; working together with their peers and forming new relationships with those outside of their class peer group. The children can earn ‘points’ for their House by meeting our school’s high expectations - living out the values of our school, working hard and being a good friend.
Each week the House Points are totalled and added to our display in the hall. At the end of each half term, the House with the most points will be given time together to enjoy a ‘reward’.
The children are very excited to be in their House and the points are already adding up!
