Who are we?
We are a non profit organisation, run by a volunteer committee, employing three members of staff who are expert in their field. Their skill and ability in caring and nurturing St. Mary’s pupils after school, is widely acknowledged amongst the school community, Local Authority and OFSTED. Our facilities are outstanding with a vast array of top quality toys and equipment in a fabulous room, purpose-built to feel homely, allowing children to have fun, to be inspired and to unwind after a busy day in the classroom. The Out of School Club is closely supported by the school and we also make full use of the superb outside play areas and games equipment.
What do OFSTED say?
"The setting provides a warm, welcoming, stimulating environment for the children, which supports their all-round development and emotional well-being. Children form strong and positive relationships with each other and staff and so a result, they are happy and settled." (OFSTED March 2014)
Who is the club for?
We cater for all ages from 4 years up to 11 years and pride ourselves in the special “family” feel to the club matched to the ethos of caring and respect upheld by the school as a whole. Our older children hold out a friendly hand and take the younger pupils under their wing. Our activities and facilities offer something for everyone! Whilst many people use the club as childcare provision, in addition we have many children who come along for our special themed nights and specialist clubs, such as Picasso’s Art Club, Spa nights and our highly popular ‘Taste Buds’ cookery courses. Keep your eyes and ears open for letters and parent mail notifications telling you about exciting, upcoming events.
Where and when?
The club runs from 3.30pm to 5.45pm and operates every day that the school is open. Parents collect their children from the club via the door next to the teacher’s staff room on the Key Stage 2 yard where there is a secure buzzer entry system.
What do we do?
With a fully operational Pupil Council, children help to take responsibility in the planning and organisation of topics and themes, displays and snack options. For example, topics chosen by the children have included, “World War II”, “The Deep Jungle” and “Under the Ocean”. Theme based activities include cookery, craft, board games, reading, imaginary play, construction, music, sport and much more. Children are offered many opportunities to explore and develop new interests and skills both inside and outside, and can choose the activities that appeal to them most. A snack and drink are provided each day. Fresh drinking water is available at all times. We promote independence by encouraging children to help plan and prepare their own snacks, where appropriate, and clear away after themselves. We recognise the importance of healthy nutrition for children delivered in a calm, friendly setting. The snack, however, is not intended as a substitute for their main evening meal..
How do I book childcare?
The booking system for Out of School Club childcare is beautifully simple! Booking forms are distributed to the whole school every half term. You can pre-book as many or as few days as you need. Our booking system allows you to pick the specific dates you require - there’s no need to pick the same days every week; we offer flexible, guaranteed bookings ONLY when places are pre booked. As well as our pre-booking childcare guarantee system, we also run an Emergency/Additional Care booking system for families whose patterns are less predictable. We warmly welcome emergency bookings and pride ourselves on being able to cater for the ever changing need for childcare for busy working households. Emergency bookings are subject to availability and pre booking is the best way to secure your places. Remember if you book a session it must be paid for (regardless of attendance) unless 7 days notice is given. For emergency booking please call 07757118521 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. For on-the-day emergency places ONLY, please contact the school office. Emergency childcare booking forms can also be picked up from the main school office or directly from the Out of School Club. All children using the club MUST complete a registration form to be updated each academic year. See the attachment below.
The fee for the club is £8.00 per child per session, £7.00 for siblings. Fees are payable in advance by cash or cheque or the Childcare Voucher Scheme. Cheques should be made payable to "St Mary's Out of school Club". Making payments online should be made to Account Number 41326295 Sort Number 40-46-28.
Please see a member of the OSC staff to discuss payment options or for information regarding childcare vouchers. Information is also available at www.childcarevouchers.co.uk
