First Holy Communion Celebrations

Congratulations to all of our year 3 children on a wonderful celebratory mass for their First Holy Communion. It was a lovely day and the children looked lovely and did us all proud. The readings and singing were beautiful and the children who prepared the altar and brought the offertory gifts did an excellent job. We know that this day will stay in the memories of the children and their families for a long time to come.

A very big thank-you must also go to the children of the choir who came along to mass to represent the school community in this celebration. The singing was lovely and commented upon by many people visiting the church for the first time.

SKIPPING CHALLENGES

Our year 5 children had a very successful and enjoyable time at the recent North Tyneside Skipping Festival. Their hard work certainly paid off and we walked away with three bronze awards and two silver! Their dance routine to Jedward’s “Under Pressure” really got everyone clapping and itching to join in. Once again St Mary’s children were praised for their sportsman-like behaviour and attitude toward their fellow competitors so very well done to everyone in year 5 – you can give your skipping legs a rest for a while now!

ST MARYS CRICKETING HEROES

The cricket tournament, hosted here in St Mary’s, was another roaring success with the children in St Mary’s coming second over all. Well done to our budding cricket stars, we hope to see more good matches from you in the future.

ICT EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Our year 4 children had a fabulous time at the Marriot Hotel in Gosforth when they attended the finals of the Northern Grid's Excellence in ICT awards. Our children came away with a “highly Commended” award and certificates for their digital artwork inspired by the street artist Keith Haring. Click here to see samples of their work.

HAVE YOU NOTICED?

We have a new on-line poll. Our last poll, for the World Cup, had Argentina as the most likely winners!!! With England as a mere 37% chance of holding the trophy. Our new poll is much closer to home and much more realistic!

We are all anxiously awaiting the new outdoor play equipment, thanks to the wonderful fund-raising efforts of the whole school and parish community, together with some careful budget planning. What interests you most about our development? What are you most looking forward to? Let us know what you think by visiting the poll (above) and casting your vote.
